Extended work for Rosenfels – who was 5-of-6 for 71 yards with a touchdown against the Seahawks last week – is enough to take the Vikings as 4?-point favorites on Thursday night.

Minnesota appears set to go with Tarvaris Jackson as the backup quarterback, leaving Sage Rosenfels to battle with Joe Webb for third string. It's a good thing for Vikes backers if Rosenfels racks up the reps on Thursday; he's been Minny's best QB in the preseason.

With that in mind, expect Childress to get a long look at Greg Camarillo, Javon Walker, Greg Lewis, and Bernard Berrian on Thursday night. Lewis has the inside track on a starting job with Rice out, but the contest is still up for grabs.

Harvin is healthy at the moment – he played in the Vikings' 24-13 win over Seattle last Saturday – but he could be forced out of the lineup at any time.

Thing is, Favre could use some work with a group of wide receivers that are in a state of flux. Top target Sidney Rice (hip surgery) is out until at least the middle of the season, while cheap Percy Harvin jersey (migraines) can't be counted on over the long haul.

In case some are joining for the first time, I hit the blog every day once camp opens and through the season until we call it a year. Opinions are always welcome. Critics, feel free. Be advised my blog work is done in addition to my daily responsibilities for the newspaper. I will not be at camp every day. My plan is to hit it three times each of the first two weeks, to get ahead on stories, share some thoughts about what I see with all of you, then we'll go from there.

Owens is Motivated

When you hear that name, what comes to mind?

I'd just ask you to add these words to your definition: Hard worker. Motivated. Last Chance. Epiphany.

Terrell Owens, somewhere down the line, will realize his antics are starting to cost him. Cost him job opportunities, cost him relationships with coaches and players in the league, and cost him, most importantly, a shot at the Hall of Fame.

Yes, I threw out there that Owens is a HOF'er.

It's my personal opinion. While he may not have a jersey retired when it's all said and done, he's been among the Marvin Harrisons, and Randy Mosses jerseys his time in the NFL. Sure, he hasn't put up 23 TDs in seaso like Randy, but he didn't disappear for two years with a team like him either. Oh, and he's never had Peyton Manning, either.

All past notes aside, Owens is likely on his last leg in his NFL journey, and i'm sure he'd like to end on a good note, with people having good things to say about him once his time is done in the league.

Of course the McNabbs jersey and Garcias of the world may have a few choice words for him, but I think he could really show a different side of himself in St. Louis. Last year, Owens had a show, and he made a big fanfare of his coming to Buffalo. No one knows how much of it was Vh1's doing (the channel who hosted his show), but it made Owens look like a savior coming to resurrect the Buffalo Bills. He didn't live up to that.

This, all adding up to why he has every bit of motivation that he can handle, coming into 2010. He's never had this much to prove, and i'm sure he'll be better for it.

It's sink or swim time for the man known as Terrell Owens. The only question I have left? Can Rams swim?

It's kind of like finding a picture of Bigfoot, a UFO, or the Lochness Monster. You might want to keep this one for your memory. You might never see it again.

All joking aside, Donnie Avery, pictured above, has gobs of talent, and bringing in a Terrell Owens can only help that.

T.O. would be the No. 1 or No. 2 receiver, but either way he'd be splitting opposite of Avery. This would open things up considerably for the only offensive threat aside from Steven Jackson.

If Avery can capitalize on single coverage, he'd be poised for a breakout and hugely helpful 2010.

Lets not cast aside the fact this is Sam Bradford's team, and he's going to be a young starter in a tough situation. The more help he can get, the better. Bradford will get one rude awakening if he's stuck with what he presently has in 2010's week one.

He'll be shouldering the load, and historically, that doesn't make for a good season, or a start to a career. Just ask David Carr about not living up to expectations.

Bottom line: Terrell Owens can help the Rams in multiple ways on offense. He'll further the progression of Donnie Avery by making the game easier for him, and he'll give Sam Bradford a legitimate threat on every down. The Rams football jerseys don't have another player on their roster that they could say the same about.

Training camp battles: Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers

Cam Thomas vs. Ogemdi Nwagbuo, starting nose tackle

The new Chargers jerseys let run-stuffing nose tackle Jamal Williams leave via free agency and he's now with Denver. That left a huge void in the middle of their defense. Williams did miss time with a knee injury last season, which forced the Chargers to adjust. Ian Scott, one of the players who saw time there with Williams down, is no longer on the team. San Diego does like Nwagbuo, a 310-pound second-year player, who had 19 tackles and a sack last season in five starts when Williams went down. Thomas was a fifth-round pick in April who has the size and power needed to be a run stopper in the NFL. He was expected to go higher than he was drafted, so the ability is there.

Edge: Nwagbuo. He has the experience and goes in as the top guy.

Opening day starter: Nwagbuo. But this will be a position manned by committee.
Oakland Raiders

Michael Bush vs. Darren McFadden jerseys, starting running back

McFadden was supposed to be a lot like Adrian Peterson. So far, that hasn't been the case. McFadden has the same type of tools that Peterson shows off in Minnesota, but he hasn't put up the numbers yet. He's battled injuries, which has slowed his growth. Entering his third season, it's his time to explode. Or maybe, he never will. Bush, a power back, has seized the slow development of McFadden to show off his hard inside running. He is a difficult back to tackle, although new offensive coordinator Hue Jackson recently said he wants him to run tougher. Jackson likes the power backs, which could help Bush.

Edge: McFadden. He was drafted high for a reason.

Opening day starter: new McFadden jersey. I just think he's ready to take the next step. And that explosive speed is so valuable to an offense.

Matthew Stafford:is he a Viable Fantasy Football QB2 in 2010?

With all of these pieces falling in place, I believe Stafford will make great strides in his second season. Enough so that I have him ranked as the 18th fantasy QB (click to see rankings ). He squares off against the Rams in Week Five making him a nice backup to Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger, who are on bye that week. Chad Henne is also on bye that week if you wait for a QB and play the matchup game.

The new Lions jerseys also bolstered their running attack by drafting rookie Jahvid Best. He gives the Lions a gamebreaker who can score from anywhere on the field. He should help keep defenses honest.

The Lions have provided some help for Johnson and Stafford jersey. Defenses won't be able to key in on Megatron like they did last year with the additions of WR Nate Burleson and TE Tony Scheffler. Assuming Brandon Pettigrew can return from his knee injury, Stafford will have a plethora of options that he just did not have last year.

 

There also is the hope that new Calvin Johnson jersey returns to form. His 2009 season was plagued with injuries. If he's healthy this year, that gives Stafford one of the best threats in the game. He has the size, strength, and speed to put up monster numbers.

For starters, he gained invaluable experience by playing in 10 games as a rookie. He learned how to prepare for a game, what to expect from defenses, and he became acclimated with the speed of the NFL. That gave him plenty to chew on as he prepares for his sophomore season.

 

As a rookie, No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford jersey completed 53.3 percent of his passes for 2,267 yards, 13 TDs, and 20 INTs for a passer rating of 61.0. Those aren't exactly numbers that make you clamor over him in your upcoming fantasy draft, especially when you consider 422 of the yards and five of the TDs came against the Browns in a Week 11 shootout. However, it is not unrealistic to foresee dramatic improvement from Stafford in 2010.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers------- Absolute Record: 2-14

Tampa Bay has a long way to go before they are a threat in the NFC South and a playoff contender. The Buccs lost their first seven games in 2009 and Josh Freeman had to take his lumps, as a rookie, in the middle of the misery. The quarterback of the future did lead TB to its three wins, but desperately needs a supporting cast to help him carry the offensive load. Tight end Kellen Winslow is his best option right now. Antonio Bryant was plagued by injuries in 2009 and is now a Bengal jerseys, and Michael Clayton is not earning much of his $24-million contract. Cadillac Williams' history with injuries is always a cause for concern. Their defense didn't help matters, ranking 27th overall in 2009. Raheem Morris has a lot of work to do to get this team back to prominence.

Most Significant Newcomer: 2010 Draftees- Tampa Bay needs some new blood and the 2010 Draft was the place to start. The Buccs plugged a huge hole by taking defensive tackles Gerald McCoy with their first round pick and Brian Price with their second rounder. McCoy is automatically a starter, while Price could work his way into a starting gig if the veterans in front of him don't perform. Raheem Morris also got some help for Freeman at wide receiver. The Buccs drafted Arelious Benn out of Illinois and Mike Williams out of Syracuse. Though veteran newcomer Reggie Brown holds the advantage right now, don't be surprised if Benn gets some touches before mid-season.

Biggest Strength: Kellen Winslow- The soldier returns for a second tour of duty with Tampa Bay. He's coming off his best season since 2007. Winslow caught 77 balls and averaged over 11 yards a reception in 2009. He found the end zone five times, matching his 2007 output.Ronde Barber jersey has no choice but to make Winslow his go-to-guy until others show they have what it takes to make plays every Sunday.

Most Exploitable Weakness: Rushing Defense- If you participated in a fantasy football league in 2009, you knew if one of your running backs were facing the Buccs, you were in for a good week. If neither of your running backs were playing the Buccs, you hit the waiver wire ASAP to add a running back that was. Tampa Bay made every team feel like they had Barry Sanders coming out of the backfield last season. They allowed 158.2 rushing yards per game, dead last in the NFL. Though the team addressed needs on the D-line in the draft, they are young and untested, which could make for a ground game feeding frenzy this season as well.

Possible Fantasy Sleeper: Reggie Brown, WR- Though his final two seasons in Philly left much to be desired from a fantasy standpoint, Brown has found the zone on a number of occasions in the past. From 2005-2007 he scored 16 touchdown for the Eagles. The pickings are slim in Tampa and this could be a case of right place, nobody else to throw to, right time for Brown to resurrect his career down in NFL JERSEY.

O-line rankings:who is better?

 New Orleans Saints: There were only two teams that ranked in the top 10 of both run and pass-blocking efficiency last year according to Football Outsiders. It should be no surprise that those teams rank in the top two spots. Then again, it's a delicate situation. The Saints jerseyswere clearly the best unit in the league last year, led by guard Jahri Evans(notes),  who many people believe has surpassed Minnesota's Steve Hutchinson(notes)  as the best interior offensive linemen in the NFL. But the real key is that this group works very well together and is consistent at creating space for Drew Brees to step up or keeping defensive linemen from getting in his face quickly (Brees is susceptible to batted passes because he's only 6-feet tall). The running game is still something of a mirage, but this group makes it work.

New England Patriots: Critics will immediately say the Patriots are over-ranked at this spot. There's no debating that the group's high ranking is partially a reflection of the rest of the league being downright mediocre. The Pats have problems right now at left tackle, where Matt Light(notes) is close to the end. If they don't re-sign guard Logan Mankins(notes), the best of the group but who is so unhappy that he has demanded a trade, this unit is going into serious freefall. That said, few groups in the NFL work together as well as the Patriots jerseys. Obviously quarterback Tom Brady(notes), the fourth-most hit passer in the league, helps a lot. But it's still a good unit.

Baltimore Ravens: At a time when pass protection is so critical, the Ravens were below average last season with an adjusted ranking of 19 overall. That said, between having a young quarterback (Joe Flacco(notes) was in his second season), a couple of big changes on the line (guard Jason Brown(notes) left and rookie right tackle Michael Oher(notes) came in) and a lack of great weapons at the receiver spot (Anquan Boldin(notes) and Donte Stallworth were brought in this offseason), there is reason to believe improvement will be made. Oher is switching to left tackle, where he may quickly surpass Denver's Ryan Clady(notes) and Miami's Jake Long as the best at that spot.

 Atlanta Falcons: new Falcons jerseys linemen like to joke about their lack of talent. Really, it's a rallying cry for them to work together. While it's true that this group doesn't have overwhelming talent, it works together in much the same way that New England's unit thrives. If left tackle Sam Baker(notes) and third-round guard Mike Johnson(notes) progress, the Falcons will solidify this spot.
